Gtechniq's EXO coating has been synonymous with easy application, a warm high gloss finish and unsurpassed water repellency. Gtechniq's new EXO v5 takes these features to an all new level! EXO v5 offers a single layer application, better durability (18-24 months), a higher water contact angle and increased hardness! It makes the perfect stand alone coating or a topper coating to Gtechniq C1, Crystal Serum Light or Crystal Serum Ultra.
In the detailing world, as in life, time is money! Previous versions of EXO would require 2 layers to achieve maximum durability. Not any more! Gtechniq's new EXO v5 is a single layer application that lasts 18-24 months. And it still offers it high gloss, warm-looking finish!
EXO v5 has taken a big step forward in dirt repellency and hydrophobics! This is due to the higher water contact angle. The higher the contact angle, the better the surface sheds water and dirt. This means the surface will stay significantly cleaner, for longer. And when the time does come to wash it, contaminants will wash away easier.
The increased hardness of EXO v5 improves its resistance to all wash chemicals and helps it withstand micro-marring. The higher contact angle also means sitting water will roll off on flatter surfaces. The combination of its increased hardness and a lower water run off angle make removing water spots easy!
EXO v5 can be applied as a standalone coating or as a top layer for C1 Crystal Lacquer or CSL Crystal Serum Light. If working with a softer or dark paint, Gtechniq recommends applying C1 or CSL as a base coat.
How to apply Gtechniq EXO v5:
- Ensure your vehicle is out of direct sunlight. Make sure the ambient air temperature is above 41 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Make sure the surfaces to be coated are completely dry and will stay dry for at least 12 hours after application.
- Wipe down all surfaces using Gtechniq Panel Wipe. This step is not required if applying over freshly applied C1 or CSL.
- Shake bottle well and wear gloves.
- Prime the AP2 Ultra Soft Foam Filled Applicator evenly with a good amount of EXO v5 so that the pad is damp.
- Apply with the applicator in overlapping strokes to a small panel or half a large panel. Wait 1-2 minutes after applying and buff with your favorite short pile microfiber towel. Follow with a second towel to remove any smearing.
- Allow the coating to cure for at least 12 hours before getting wet.
- Wait at least 1 week before washing the car.
- Use any remaining coating with 3 months of opening.
Layering Notes:
- Application over C1 Crystal Lacquer: Wait a minimum of 4 hours, but less than 12 hours, after you finish C1 application.
- Application over CSL Crystal Serum Light: EXO v5 can either be applied straight away starting the process at the same place you id with CSL. For best results, wait two hours before applying EXO v5 to allow CSL to flash-off longer.
